Around twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Widespread Impact

Residents reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both states.

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
